Thursday, November 22, six-year old Anna Zhmuriy finished the second phase of the first chemotherapy protocol. Yesterday, when our volunteers visited Anna, she was looking and feeling good, she was active and she told us with great joy about her achievements in drawing and reading. She told us about her dolls and she shared with us her plans for the future. Yet, the first chemotherapy was hard on our girl. On Thursday, Anna was weak and she complained about pain in her legs. Anna’s blood test results were poor, and she urgently needed blood transfusion, but the doctors could not bring down her fever, and the blood transfusion is not possible with fever. Only Friday morning, the fever went down to 37.5C, and the blood transfusion was done, and Anna was administer Filgrastim as well.

With God’s help, Volodimir completed his second chemotherapy block. All this time of the intensive treatment can be compared with a nightmare. The treatment was hard on Volodimir; he constantly had high fever, nausea, no appetite, and he had to stay in bed all the time. Volodimir did not even have any desire to get up and play with his favorite toys. Parents and nurses were fighting with all these symptoms and they did they best to morally support the boy. Last Wednesday, the boy was scheduled to begin the third chemo, but because of high fever and stomatitis, the chemo had to be postponed. Today Volodimir is feeling better and the treatment is about to continue.
