On Thursday, Ivan was prescribed a stronger type of chemo. It lasts five days, and Ivan needs six blocks.

Shapes, sizes, and colors that children use reveal that a child really wants, his or her fears, hopes, and moods. We conducted one of such classes with the children from the department of hematology at Ivano-Frankivsk Children’s Hospital on Friday, May 24. Organizers of the class were art-therapist Ganna Maximchiuk, medical school students Valentina Maximchiuk and Julia Tachinska and Albina Grizkevich.

On Tuesday, May 21, our little angel Marichka Olenich was buried. The girl went a long and hard way of treating retinoblastoma, yet the treatment did not give expected results, and Marichka is no longer with us. For seven months, doctors, parents, and relatives were making all they could to save the girl’s life, yet they lost the battle with cancer. We thank everybody who together with us supported Marichka and her parents. Thank you for all your contributions that helped us to pay for expensive drugs and thank you for caring and thinking about the girl.

Dear friends, thanks to your help, Olexiy Doloshiy was able to go to Kiev for the treatment. Today is his fourth day at Kiev Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases, and yesterday the doctors had a meeting to outline the course of his treatment. Because of high fever, Olexiy could not begin the treatment before. Luckily the boy is feeling better now, and the doctors hope for his recovery. Today we paid for the medications that the boy needs, Pegasys та Ribavirin, and tomorrow they will be administered to Olexiy.

When Pavel goes outside, he is not feeling well, and recently several times his blood pressure was extremely high. Pavel’s mom hopes that Pavel’s condition improves and she will be able to take him home. May 17, Dolyna school #7 had a true celebration. The school organized a Family Day, and during the even we made happy one more family. Eleven-year old Arthur Kinsela who suffers from cerebral palsy received an orthopedic bike that will improve his health condition. We managed to realize the project “Orthopedic Bike”. Thanks to Julia Liahovich’s help, we raised the money for the bike in just one month, purchased the bike, and gave it to Arthur.

Thanks to the project “The Easter Basket” realized together with our partner Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace, kids could feel the greatness of Easter and spent the holiday with joy. We spent 13 444UAH on Easter baskets. The children could arrange the Easter bread, colored eggs, and sausages themselves and took the Easter baskets to the local church.

The six-month-old baby of 870 mm weight and 35 cm height frightened the doctors of the maternity hospital. No one knew what would happen to the baby; whether would she cope with this and whether would she be able to live a full life in the future.
