Last September Christina went to school just like other teens her age in her native village Nebyliv, Rozhniativ region. The girl planned to do a lot during the school year. She thought about her first steps in the adult life because she was in the ninth grade. Christina’s parents wanted their daughter to continue family traditions and to study medicine, and Christina promised to think about it. However, the fate presented Bilobryvka family with a terrible trial, and they heard the scary word cancer in their lives. September 15 Christina was diagnosed with pneumonia. For three day she had high fever, and after that the x-ray and MRI scans showed a tumor. Further and histological examinations in Lviv and Kiev confirmed the diagnosis: Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Ivanna Kuzan

During a physical at school, doctors noticed spots on Ivanna’s lungs, but they did not explain what that could be and refused to refer the girl to see a specialist. At that time, Ivanna always had fever and dry coughing. ESR was high, and of hemoglobin was low. The girl was getting worse every day. Ivanna’s parents took her to the regional hospital for a more extensive examination, and Ivanna was diagnosed with lymphogranulomatosis. In tenth grade Ivanna did not attend school. She studied at home and took tests. She had a dream to apply for a pre-med program in college, but she will not be able to do it because of her disease. Currently, Ivanna is undergoing treatment at the Children’s Hospital.

Ivan Moskaliuk is a thirteen years old boy. In his short life, he suffered a lot. When he was five, his younger brother Roman died of brain tumor. One year later, his mom died of liver cancer. She was the closest and the dearest to Ivan, and she was only 39 at the time of her death. After these misfortunes, Ivan and his father continued to live a simple life in a village, and the father was taking very good care of the son. They did not have any support from extended families. Many of their relatives died, and the others live far.

Anna is a long awaited child in Zhmuriy family. By coming to this world, Anna gave to all her family a lot of joy, unique and unforgettable emotions, happy moments. Anna was just like all other children: first word, first step, preschool. This year Anna was supposed to begin first grade. Her family made all the necessary preparations, Anna met her new teacher and her future classmates. A new backpack and a new school uniform were ready for her, and all of a sudden Anna end up in a hospital, and her diagnosis is acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. In August, Anna began her treatment at the hematological department in Ivano-Frankivsk. When we asked her how she was doing, Anna said that she is doing OK, but she really wants to go to school.
