Taras is 4.5 years old. Eighteen months ago, he complained of the pain in his legs. This pain was the first sign of the disease. The doctors diagnosed him with rheumatoid arthritis and for a long time Taras was treated for that in Ivano-Frankivsk, in Kiev, and then again in Ivano-Frankivsk. In spite of treatment, Taras was not getting better. Then his lymph nodes became enlarged, and the biopsy revealed cancer cells. In Kiev Institute of Cancer, Taras was diagnosed with neuroblastoma with metastases to lymph nodes and bones, stage 4.

 After 3.5 months of high dose chemo, the tumor got smaller and the metastases disappeared. The next step was the bone marrow transplant conducted for one month and half in Kiev Institute of Cancer past spring. While Taras was in a bone marrow transplant ward, anational TV station made a program about him.

Finally in June all the family was together and everything was OK. But at the end of July the tumor became active again. Now,  Taras needs to continue the treatment in Germany. He needs chemotherapy  and bone marrow transplant. According to preliminary calculations, the cost of the chemo is 50 000 Euros and the cost of the bone marrow transplant is 250 000 Euros.
