Date of Birth: December 19, 1998. Diagnosis - Мielosarcoma

Until recently, Mykola, a thirteen year old boy, lived a carefree life. Earlier this year, Mykola was diagnosed with a tumor in his head and had a surgery in the Hospital of Ivano-Frankivsk. The rehabilitation period was hard. Mykola complained about pain in his legs and his back, and he could not sleep.

The doctor referred Mykola to a specialized hospital for MRI, and as a result three malignant tumors were found on Mykola’s spine.  Parents took Mykola to Kiev “OHMADYT” hospital where Mykola was diagnosed with mielosarcoma.

In July, Mykola faced another challenge: his legs became paralyzed. And all the time he continued to experience severe pains that could be controlled only with very strong pain medications.

The process is complicated by the fact that Mykola is one of only two children in Ukraine who have this rare condition. Now the boy is undergoing treatment in Ivano-Frankivsk.  The family has already spent all their money, yet they have to continue the treatment. Mykola needs Avastin (the cost of the medication is 15,000UAH), and if the treatment is postponed, it will have negative impact on the boy’s health).
