10 years old - Burkitt lymphoma

It seemed to us that we are doing great; we have a big united family: my husband and I and four children, everybody healthy. But misfortune came unexpectadly. Our younger son, ten-year-old Stepanko has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (Burkitt lymphoma) 4 th degree.

For almost one month, our son has been undergoing treatment at the regional children’s hospital. During this time, the tumor was removed in a four-hour surgery. Our child spent five days in the intensive care unit, then couple of days in surgical department, and after that again five days in the intensive care.

Now we are undergoing treatment at the nephrology unit in the Regional Hospital. All the drugs are extremely expensive and the treatment is very lengthy. I am unemployed and my husband is retired. We have other three children: our oldest son Andriy has graduated from college with a degree in electronic devices. For almost a year, he is trying to find a job. Our second son Juri is in military service. The third son Vasil is attending college.

We are not a rich family and that is why we are asking kind people to help us in any possible way.
Every night, our Stepanko sees a dream that he is healthy again and that he can walk. We firmly believe in Stepanko’s recovery. There is nothing worse than to look at the pain of your own child and understand that you are helpless only because you do not have enough money.
