Adoption at a distance is a common project of the charitable foundation "Ty Anhel" and  Diocesan charitable organization "Czech Republic Charity" http://www.charita.cz/ . The project is designed to provide long-term help to the children in Ivano-Frankivsk region whose parents are not able to provide for basic needs (food, clothes, education, healthcare, etc). The participating child receives the financial support from his or her adoptive parents without being disconnected from his or her cultural environment and traditions. The child is given an opportunity to grow and develop into a responsible individual.

How “Adoption at a Distance” Works?

Participating Chezh Republic citizens are interested in helping:

- Children from families that are below poverty level;

- Children with serious health conditions;

- Orphans and children who live in orphanages;

- Students from poor families;

- Children with disabilities

In Ukraine, many children live under poverty level. Adoption at a distance implies that an interested party chooses a child to help financially.

Adoptive parents can visit their child, but all the costs related to their visit are their expenses.

Coordinators of the project “Adoption at a Distance”:

- chose children that are eligible for the project, constantly monitor their needs, and make sure that the financial assistance is used in accordance with the project;

- make sure that parents report in a timely manner fundamental changes in the life of the child and his or her family (change of employment of parents, death, change of financial circumstances, graduation from school or college, marriages, etc);

- make sure that the child (or his or her parent) write a letter to adoptive parents at least once in six months and send them the child’s report card at the end of the school year;

- report to the adoptive parents how the financial aid helps turn around the circumstances in the child’s life.

Criterions of selection of children for the project

The main criteria of selecting the children for the project are financial hardships in  family.

- The child finishes the treatment;

- The student graduates from college and now is able to live independently;

- Financial situation in the family improves;

- The family moves and the contact with the child is interrupted;

- The participating parties violate the rules of the project.
