The Dolyna Children's Hospital, along with all its young patients and their parents, is expecting a special gift—a germicidal lamp irradiator! You may think it's a rather unusual gift, although it is something quite necessary. Indeed, due to insufficient funding, the Dolyna Children's Hospital has not had these disinfection devices.
 
The history of the first light bulb takes us all the way back to the 19th century! Over the course of 100 years, science has made an incredible breakthrough. Today, store shelves are filled with a dizzying array of light bulbs. You can choose from incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, or LED light bulbs. You can purchase lamps of many different sizes, shapes, and powers. Now it is difficult for us to imagine life without light bulbs. They light up our homesand our streets. They provide a cozy atmosphere at our desks and make our entranceways safer.
 
However, these ordinary light bulbs are not the ones that the “You Angel” charity foundation is interested in. The foundation is concerned with special ones that will help treat patients at the Dolyna Children's Hospital
 
A germicidal lamp irradiator is a special type of medical device that is used for disinfection. These lamps use ultraviolet radiation to disinfect and decontaminate the air and surfaces.
 
Without a doubt, disinfection is something that is quite necessary in order for successful medical treatments to occur. Due to a lack of government funding for equipment purchases, the Dolyna Children's Hospital did not have any of these devices. At present, the hospital urgently needs 25 germicidal irradiators. These devices cost 9500 UAH (Ukrainian hryvnyas) [approx. 1160 USD].
 
Throughout their over one hundred year existence, ordinary light bulbs have progressed from being simple sources of light to providing disinfection to hospital facilities! Who knows, perhaps in the near future, scientists will make things possible so that our children will not need children's hospitals and their faces will always be shining with smiles!
