On Monday, May 31, the Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav met with the staff and children-patients of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. Volunteers of the “You are an Angel” Charitable Foundation Marichka Pazyniuk and Iryna Shpynta had the opportunity to join this event.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav visited the department of the regional hospital, where he met with children and their parents, as well as doctors of the institution. The Head of the Church paid special attention to the patients of the OncoHematology department where he was met by sick children, parents, medical staff, and volunteers of the foundation.
The children started preparing for this meeting last week. Together with the volunteers of the foundation, the boys and girls painted an art picture, which was presented to His Beatitude during the meeting.

“It was very touching for me to visit children with cancer, to see the eyes of their parents. Today, human civilization, particularly in the field of medicine, has enormous achievements, but there is always a limit. When you look into the eyes of sick children, with those scars on their heads, you realize that before a complex illness, a person feels limited and weak. Therefore, with great emotion I put my hands on the heads of these children and asked Lord to give courage to the doctors, strength, professionalism, and all of us the power of love to support those children. Because, looking at us, they wanted to see hope in us for themselves,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav shared his impressions.
The foundation's art therapist, Marichka Pazyniuk, presented His Beatitude with her own coloring book, which was specially designed and distributed for children treating cancer. “This meeting is not just an official visit of the Head of the Church to the children's hospital. It is a gesture of love, faith and hope. A sign of God's Blessing and support of the Ukrainian Church. Sick children and their parents felt it in a special way. I am convinced that this meeting will give them strength to overcome my pain, sadness and insidious disease," Marichka said.
Let us remind you that the purpose of the meeting was to draw public attention to the issue of child protection and emphasize that affordable, high quality and safe medicine for children is the duty of the community and the state.
