Vladislav Bodnaruk: The First Part of the Protocol is Behind

Vladislav Bodnarchiuk, a young patient in the department of hematology, finished the first half of the first chemotherapy protocol. Because of the severe coughing the second half of the protocol has to be postponed.
Last week was very difficult for our little hero. The doctors had to transfer Vladislav to the intensive care unit because he was feeling very bad, and he had fast heartbeat. Thank God, Vladislav stayed there only one day. The next day, as soon as he got transferred back, he began smiling, playing, and he even said that he was hungry.
Vladislav began his treatment on October 1. It has been two months since the time his parents learnt about the scary diagnosis. All the nurses and doctors love the boy. Vladislav gives smiles to everybody who enters his hospital ward. The doctors know that any time they need to see Vladislav, he smiles to them as if he is saying :”I want to be your friend, and I want to play with you. I want you to be happy and to smile back to me.”

During the treatment the boy became more mature. Once he saw that Anna from his ward went to a laboratory for blood test all by herself and she was not crying. After that he decided that he can go for a blood test without mom. His mom is waiting for him outside and she is surprised that he never cries in spite of being a three year old kid.
Vladislav is asking his mother about one thing. He loves to walk in the hallways of the hospital. When he has a break from taking medications, his mom is taking him for a walk in the hallways. Those are the happiest moments for Vladislav. He loves to look at other patients, he loves to smile at them, and he is very happy when they smile back. In the morning as soon as Vladislav wakes up, he is always asking his mom to take him for walk.
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to go for a walk because of the treatment. One time when the chemotherapy had to be given through IV, Vladislav refused to take off his shoes and said that would be sitting on a chair during the entire treatment. He was afraid that he would fall asleep and his mom would not take him for a walk.

We believe that this hard trial for Bodnarchiuk family will be over and Vladislav’s dream will come true. He told to our volunteers that he really wants to go fishing with his father and his God father.
