The third year in a row, right before the International Children’s Day, UNISEF organizes a soccer match UNISEF Cup for the children that currently live in difficult circumstances.
Sixteen teams of children age 13 to 15 from different parts of Ukraine participated. Ty Anhel sponsored ten children from Dolyna region to participate in the event. Each team took a name of one of the countries that will participate in World Cup 2014. Our team’s name was “Japan”. The event exceeded our expectations. We did not win, but everybody was happy and overwhelmed with emotions because of the trip to the capital of Ukraine.

On top of the matches we had an opportunity to interact and take pictures with soccer stars such as Olexandr Rybka from Kiev Dinamo and a TV ancor from channel 2+2 Olexandra Loboda.

The culmination of the event was UNISEF Cup award ceremony. The children received athletic shoes, backpacks, t-shirts, notepads, and other souvenirs as gifts.

During the banquet that followed the children discussed the results of the competition. Tired and happy the children shared their experiences with each other all the way home. Here is what the children wrote:
Oles, 13 years old
I began to play soccer when I was 6. My father took me with him when he went to play soccer with his friends. The first real game that I saw was between Dinamo and Lyon. My favorite team Dinamo lost that match, but I had feelings and emotions that I am going to remember forever. Since that time I play soccer. The game helps me to stay in shape and to forget for a while all the problems that I have in school.
Volodymir, 13 years old
My dream is to become a famous soccer player, just like Messi or Ronaldo. I want to realize myself in soccer and play for the national team of Ukraine. I will be happy if I manage to do it in my life. UNISEF Cup played a big role in my life. This event helped me to gain self-confidence and motivates me to do my best in the future.
Maxim, 13 year old
At the tournament I met a famous Ukrainian soccer player Olexandr Rybka. He was always my role model and I want to become just like him. I practice soccer on a regular basis. If I ever become a famous soccer player, I will be helping children who are in difficult circumstances and will give them an opportunity to play soccer on high quality fields. UNISEF Cup helped me to understand that being famous is not just prestigious social status, but also responsibility for the people who need help and care.
Rostyk, 14 year old
I cannot express in words my impressions from UNISEF Cup. It was an explosion of emotions. It was interesting to watch the games of other teams and to participate in contests. I was impressed how well girls play soccer; I have never seen it before. I likes how girls’ team “Spain” played and I am glad they got the best team award. I want these events to happen more often.
Arthur, 14 year old
I participated in many tournaments, but UNISEF Cup impressed me the most. We lost, but I was in good mood and had positive emotions all day long. Soccer is not just a game for me. It gives meaning to my life. After meeting Olexandr Rybka and other famous people, I will put more efforts into becoming a famous Ukrainian soccer player.
Orest, 14 year old
Soccer is an indispensable part of my life, and I want to become a famous soccer player. At UNISEF Cup I understood that recognition comes only when you share your success with others, with those who need help and support. When I become a soccer player I will work on developing soccer in my region, on repairing and building soccer fields and on organizing soccer tournaments for children that are in difficult circumstances.
Oxana, 12 year old
I attended a very cool soccer tournament today. I am happy that I had an opportunity to play soccer on huge stadium and to take a picture with Olexandr Rybko. I am grateful to all the people who made such trip possible for me.
Our foundation thanks UNISEF for cooperation and for implementing important social projects that bring kids together and create environment in which the children can develop and grow.
