Who can evoke in kids positive emotions and laughter? Who can give kids colorful balloons and paint their faces? After which show the children are all excited? Of course, we are talking about magicians and clowns.

Kids love them, but do all of them have an opportunity to go to a show? What about sick children? Do children with cancer have an opportunity to see a clown? Now we sure can say “yes, they have!”

Thanks to our partner, foundation “Zaporuka”, volunteers from “Ty Anhel” could attend a class “Games in a Hospital Ward”. The training was necessary to learn all the tricks of being a hospital clown and to learn how to behave with  children. The children with cancer need special treatment because every careless word or gesture can upset them.

Nadia Kostiovich and Ivanna Podoliak had a chance to attend the class and understand the specifics of being a hospital clown. It is hard because clowns have to understand the phycology of the children with cancer. And it is hard to just walk into the hospital ward and act funny.

Roberto Michelon, a professional clown from an Italian association “Games in the Hospital Ward” agreed  to teach our beginners. For two days volunteers were learning  and polishing the new skills.

The knowledge that our volunteers gained will help us to realize a new project “Doctor Clown” that has a goal to bring sincere children’s laughter to the hospitals.

We thank “Zaporuka” for giving us an opportunity to learn how to bring the smiles to children’s faces.
