December 16, 2012 – Day One. St Nikolas Visits Everyone

From the early age everybody knows about the day of St Nikolas. It is impossible to imagine a childhood without gifts from St Nikolas. While waiting for the holiday, the children recall if they were good the whole year. And all the children want to receive the sweet treats, and not whips that naughty children find under their pillows. This year, like all other years,  the charitable foundation “Ty Anhel asked St Nikolas not to give whips to any children, but to create a holiday that the children would remember all year long.

 
December 16 at the restaurant “Naftovyk” we realized the project “St Nikolas’ Sack” for orphans and children with physical disabilities. The children from Dolyna boarding school, Vygoda Reabilitation Center, Dolyna orphanage “Teply Dim”, and that is approximately one hundred children, were looking forward to this day and were guessing that our organization prepared for them this time. And we prepared a lot. After the charitable foundation “Ty Anhel” greeted the children, the children were immersed in the world of kindness and fairy tale. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Ivano-Frankivsk Maria Pidghirianka  Academic Puppet Theater transferred  the children to the world of fairy tale by presenting them the play “On St Nikolas’ Day Eve”. The children were exited to watch the play, and we believe they learned some lessons from it. They did not want the actor to leave the stage, but it was only the beginning of the holiday. We planned more for the children. Veronika Zakutna was entertaining the children with catchy songs, and the children were so happy to see the star whose songs they knew by heart and were singing together with her. Even outside anyone could feel the positive emotions that were coming from singing and dancing. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
And after that St Nikolas the Wonderworker, the person because of whom everybody gathered together,   came to the children. The children were reciting poems and singing songs to St Nikolas. Nobody remained without sweet gifts because all boys and girls were nice all year long and they deserve sweet treats. He children ate dinner at a festive buffet and went dancing.
 
 
 
 
I was overwhelmed with emotions, and I am sure it was even more intense for the children. When I asked the kids what they liked the most they said: “the play”, “the actors”, “presents, dancing, and singing”, and most of all “being with friends”.

 
One little girl said: “On St Nikolas’ Day the dreams come true. My dream has already come true. My greatest desire was to have a big family and an opportunity to spend time together. Today, I felt that I have family, it is big, and it supports me in everything.”
 
 
 
 
 
These children are very young, but they already understand what the true values in life are. How can we not be happy when we see their happy smiles?  On behalf of all the children, parents, teachers, and myself I would like to thank the charitable foundation “Ty Anhel” for the wonderful time that they have the children.
